Whats happening regarding the second airport in Chennai?

Not many would have heard about places like Mamandur and Parandur till now. Soon, these could become famous like Meenambakkam!!
The government of TN has identified these above 2 locations near Chennai for the second airport.
On Wednesday, 28th July2021, Union minister of state for civil aviation, Mr. V.K. Singh informed the Upper House of the Parliament about the TN government that has identified 2 locations for the development of a second airport in Chennai. He then spoke about how the response from the state government regarding the finalisation of the site was awaited. It must be taken into note that Mamandur village is in the Tiruvannamalai district on Kanchipuram-Vandavasi Road and in the Kancheepuram district is Parandur. Point is that the distance between Parandur and Meenambakkam is 60kms.
It was later revealed by Mr. Singh that modification of storm water drains or SWD for mitigating floods at Chennai airport for Rs 209 crores would be completed by August 2021.
It is learnt that by October 2021 construction of 2 Rapid Exit Taxiways for the main runway 7/25 and straightening of B-Taxiway as a parallel Taxi Track suitable for Code-E aircraft at Chennai International Airport at a cost of Rs 98 crores would be completed.
