Under the mandatory Right For Free Education Act for children, parents can apply ONLINE for their children for admissions in private schools in LKG or 1st Standard without any cost under the 25% quota from 5th July to 3rd August

In a notification released in this regard by the Secretary of the Tamil Nadu State Government Department of School Education, Kakarla Usha, it is mentioned:

“The Government has ordered in 2013 that as per the Mandatory Free Education for Children Act children belonging to the economically lower cadre and the children with parents living Below Poverty Line (BPL) may be admitted in private schools under a 25% quota to be reserved. On this basis, children are being admitted to private schools every academic year!

An announcement has been released recently in this regard for admission of the economically backward children in private schools for the current academic year.

Because of the prevailing coronavirus pandemic situation, the private schools have to receive applications ONLINE and conduct the admission in LKG or 1st Standard strictly following the safety guidelines for the Academic Year 2021-22.

The Director of Matriculation Schools must receive the details regarding available seats from 24th June.

Subsequently, the private schools need to release on their individual websites and on the school premises Notice Boards regarding the number of seats allotted for admission under the above 25% quota on 3rd July!

Following this, the parents interested in admitting their children to private schools CAN APPLY ONLINE from anywhere.

Further, arrangements must be set up to apply ONLINE from the offices of the Primary Education Officer and District Education Officer.

In case some applications are given by the schools to the parents in this regard, the schools MUST GIVE ACCEPTANCE LETTER WITHOUT FAIL! These applications can be submitted ONLINE on the respective websites of the schools. Otherwise, the application may be submitted online through the nearest Regional District Education Offices.

In case an excess number of applications has been received exceeding the number of available seats, the schools must select the applications on a ‘lucky draw’ basis.

In case a lesser number of applications have been received as compared to the available seats in the school, the schools can select all the applicants and admit them.

The Private Schools MUST send the details of the students admitted under the Free Mandatory Educacation Act by 14th August to the District Education Officer.

Timely Information on Notice Boards

To provide sufficient awareness among the parents, the private schools MUST SET UP THE DISPLAY OF DETAILS ON PROMINENT BANNERS/NOTICES ON NOTICE BOARDS KEPT AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE OF ALL THE SCHOOLS (Non-Minority, Self-financed schools)!

The private schools must display the names of the children eligible for admission in their school premises Notice Boards as well as their official websites on 9th August!”
