The first Coronavirus infection wave in the year 2020 created numerous issues for the people in Tamil Nadu. Just when the state of TN was recovering from this first wave, the second Coronavirus infection wave began to spread and it has been causing more issues for the people. Now, the situation has been brought under control in Chennai and in TN is known.

There are fears regarding the third Coronavirus infection wave now. The health minister for TN Mr. M. Subramanian on Tuesday mentioned the availability of 70,000 beds across TN and hinted that TN was equipped to tackle the third wave also. In Tamil Nadu, Thanjavur district has been affected very badly by the Covid-19 infection and the health minister made his presence felt there.

He spoke about how in addition to the existing beds a Covid treatment centre with 220 ordinary beds and 80 oxygen supported beds has been set up in a month of time in the popular Thanjavur Medical College Hospital. He then pointed out that if a third Coronavirus infection wave emerged the state of TN was well equipped to tackle the third wave as more than 70000 beds have been kept ready.

In all the government colleges as well as in all the medical colleges in TN, paediatric wards have been opened. Till now, 1.10 crores vaccines were received and out of those 1.05crores have been utilized.

On Tuesday, 6.16lakhs vaccines were received and they were then distributed to all the districts belonging to Tamil Nadu. It must be taken into account that by 21st June 2021 vaccines from 7 firms would be readied. By this, TN would be able to administer as many vaccine doses as possible.

In TN, the awareness about the vaccines has increased among the public and the TN government is committed to receive the required volumes of vaccine doses from the Centre. In the state of TN till now, as many as 1236 persons have been affected by the black fungus infection. It is worthy to note here that for treating this black fungal infection TN the government requested 45,000 doses of the drug but had received just 10,000 doses.

Truth is that the strict implementation of lockdown in TN has resulted in the reduction in the Covid-19 cases and the death rate that was more than 400 per day is gradually reducing. Finally, TN would become a zero death state.
