For the very first time in many weeks, fresh COVID cases decreases in Chennai

For all these days, the residents belonging to Chennai would have been hearing about the everyday increase in the fresh Coronavirus cases. The superb piece of news is that after a long time the fresh cases have decreased in Chennai. On Thursday, 13th May 2021, Chennai reported 6991 new cases.
It must be taken into account that on Tuesday and on Wednesday Chennai had 7466 fresh cases and 7564 fresh cases respectively. It was on 9th of May the fresh cases touched 7000 in Chennai city for the first time. There were just 265 fresh cases on 12th March and the number of fresh cases went up to 1000 mark on 1st April.
The shocking piece of information is that in this second infection wave the number of fresh cases In Chennai even surpassed the highest tally recorded in TN in the first wave. During the first Covid-19 infection wave, the highest ever fresh cases recorded was 2393 in Chennai. It is worthy to note that a total of 419261 cases have been reported in Chennai.
According to Dr. T. S. Selvavinayagam, DPH, the spike was still strong in many districts including Chennai after the lockdown. He hoped that in a week of time the cases would decline.
