In TN, in April alone, 2.8 lakhs COVID cases reported - Highest ever increase in 1 month

The Covid-19 infection has spread to every nook and corner now and on Friday the number of cases in TN stood at 1166756. In the month of April alone, TN recorded 280083 Coronavirus positive cases and this is now the highest spike ever recorded in a single month.
Information collected is that on 1st April the number of active cases in TN was 17043 and on 30th April the number of active cases stood at 115128. There were 18692 cases on Friday in TN. The city of Chennai reported as many as5473 cases. Now, the number of active cases in Chennai stands at 31,222.
There were 1215 cases reported in Chengalpet district and 1113 in Coimbatore. Tiruvallur district reported as many as 905 cases. The daily cases surged in districts like Erode, Madurai, Salem, Krishnagiri, Thoothukudi etc also. In TN, the total number of deaths due to this deadly infection crossed 14000mark.On Friday the total number of discharges from several hospitals in TN was 16007and the total recoveries stands at 1037582 now.
In the last 24 hours in TN, the total number of samples tested for Coronavirus infection was 143571 and nearly 85000got vaccinated yesterday. Till now, 5854130 persons have been vaccinated in TN.
