The Department of Transport of the Karnataka State Government has estimated that so far, around 4 Lakhs citizens have left Bangalore City!

The Department of Transport of the Karnataka State Government has further informed that an additional 2 lakhs citizens are waiting in the bus stations to return to their native places!

A senior official from the Karnataka State Government shared regarding this development:

“As the waiting crowds are quite large, additional buses operate taking the maximum load of passengers! With around 3 Lakhs citizens having already left Bangalore City though the State Transport buses, 1 Lakh citizens are travelling through private buses.”

A transport official at the Majestic Bus Terminus shared: “Though some of the contractors have been successful in persuading the workers not to leave the Bangalore city,a majority of the workers are quite resolute in leaving the city!”

The scenario at the bus stations has 2 aspects – on the one side, the contractors are persuading the workers not to return to their native places! On the other side, the transport officials are appealing to the public to strictly adhere to the social distancing, etc.!

With the increasing extent of impact/spread of the resurgent coronavirus pandemic, 100% lockdown has been imposed in the State of Karnataka for 2 weeks!
