The Chennai High Court has given the clear verdict that the Tamil Nadu State Government Order cancelling the arrears examination AS INVALID!

As such, the question has now arisen whether the arrears examinations will now be conducted!

In this scenario, information is gathered that the Tamil Nadu State Government Department of Higher Education has planned to postpone the decision on whether to conduct the arrears examinations until 3rd May!

The schools and colleges which remained closed as a preventive measure by the Central and State Governments against the spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic since March 2020 was gradually reopened during the months of November and December.

However, with the spread being unchecked and on the rise, the direct classes in most schools and colleges WERE NOT CONDUCTED! THEY ARE BEING CONDUCTED ONLINE ONLY.

During the current academic year, classes have been conducted for the college students just for only one month! Even the examinations are conducted online.

Meanwhile, due to the prevailing raging spread of the coronavirus pandemic, most of the examinations were also cancelled! Except for the Final Year College students, the examinations were cancelled for college students of all other classes and deemed ‘all-pass was given to them!

However, the academicians and social enthusiasts criticized this stating that it is not acceptable that those who have not really passed as ‘deemed passed’!

A petition was filed in the Chennai High Court regarding this issue! Taking up an enquiry on this petition, the Chennai High Court declared that the order from the State Government of Tamil Nadu cancelling the arrears examination WAS NOT VALID! FURTHER, IT RECOMMENDED THAT ARREARS EXAMINATION MUST BE CONDUCTED BY SOME MEANS! ‘ALL-PASS’ ORDER IS CANCELLED!

The teachers and the ‘all-pass students were rather shocked to hear this verdict! Information is gathered that the Higher Officials of the Department of Higher Education of the Tamil Nadu State Government has planned to defer the decision regarding conducting the arrears examination until 3rd May!

The petition is coming up again for the enquiry scheduled on 15th April!  As the elections have been conducted and the new government is formed as per the rules of the Election Commission Conduct, the senior officials of the Department of Higher Education of the State Government of Tamil Nadu have decided that this issue may be taken up after the new government is formed.

As such, the answer to the question of whether the arrears examination will be conducted at all is in the hands of the new government to be formed after 2nd May!!
