The Minister for School Education of the State Government of Tamil Nadu, K. A. Sengottaiyan, informed that there are no prospects for reopening classes for the students of the 6th, 7th, & 8th Standards in the prevailing conditions,

With all the schools having remained closed in the State of Tamil Nadu since March 2020,  as a preventive measure of the lockdown imposition against the spread of the raging coronavirus pandemic, and further gradual relaxations being announced with every subsequent extension of lockdown imposition, the schools were reopened exclusively for the students of the 10th & 12th Standards who are set to write the Public Examinations from 19th January.

Subsequently, the State Government of Tamil Nadu granted permission to resume classes for the students of the 9th & 11th Standards as well with written permission from the parents and as such, these classes were reopened from 8th February.

As the extent/spread/impact of the raging coronavirus pandemic has reduced substantially since the last few months, information has been doing rounds that the schools may reopen for the remaining classes as well.

As the annual examinations for the students are planned to be completed before the Tamil Nadu State Legislative Assembly Elections, reliable circles informed that the classes may be reopened for the students of the 6th, 7th, & 8thStandards.

With the above status, the Tamil Nadu State Minister for School Education, K. A. Sengottaiyan had a session with the press reporters at Gopichettypalayam, Erode District. He explained that the prevailing situation on the coronavirus, front does not allow any prospects for reopening the classes for the 6th, 7th, & 8th students. Presently, around 98.5% os the students are attending schools for the reopened classes. Further, the minister informed that TABS will be distributed to the 6th, 7th, & 8th Standard students.
