There are as many as50 dockless cycle stations in Chennai city now and 500 bicycles. In the future, 100 dockless cycle stations would be set up in Chennai because of the fact that electric bikes and next generation bicycles would be making their presence felt. It was mentioned that GCC would be deploying 500 e-bikes as well as 500 next generation bicycles.

Fixed fares for electric bicycles:

The fares have been fixed for the electric bicycles and this was pointed out by a GCC source. Information is that for the first 1o minutes the users would have to pay Rs 10 and for additional 10 minutes Re 1 would be charged from the users. It is known that the GCC has been charging Rs 5.50 for every 60 minutes for ordinary bicycles and Rs 9.90 for the next 30 minutes of time.

It is now clear that the same amount would also be charged for the next generation bicycles that would be launched in the near future. Truth is that the public would be able to use electric bicycles both manually as well as by using battery power. After the battery gets charged, the bicycles would run for a maximum speed of 20kmph.
