Pongal Special buses to operate from today (11th Jan.)!

The Minister for Transport, State Government of Tamil Nadu, M. R. Vijayabhaskar, informed that 16221 special buses will be operated.

With the Pongal festival nearing fast, the special buses will be operated from today (Monday, 11th January) to facilitate the citizens travelling to their native places to celebrate the most important festival of the Tamil People, Pongal.

Accordingly, 4078 buses from the Chennai |Metro City and 5993 special buses from other places are being operated. The citizens have been strictly and strongly advised to follow all the coronavirus safety guidelines.

Further, to facilitate the travelling citizens to return to their cities of work-place locations, 15270 special buses are to be operated from other districts from 17th to 19th January.

10 Reservation counters have been set up in Koyambedu Bus Terminus, 2 Reservation Counters at Tambaram Sanatorium (MAIS), 1 Reservation Counter at Poonamallee Bus Terminus, for a total of 13 Reservation Counters.

Arrangements have been for the citizens to reserve special bus tickets online with the existing websites - www.tests.in, tests official App , www.redbus.in, www.paytm.com, www.busindia.com.

To access information on regarding the operation of these special omnibuses and also to register complaints, if any, 2 24-hours complaint telephone numbers have been arranged - 94450 14450 & 94450 14436.

Further, for any complaints regarding excess charging for the bus tickets, etc., toll-free telephone number 1800 425 6151 can be contacted.

Considering the public welfare, the central control room set up in Koyambedu Bus terminus will operate 24-hours-a-day.

Arrangements have also been made for the passengers to access information egarding the special buses and routes, 20 Information Centres have been set up.

The special buses being operated from the Chennai Metro City will start from the following locations – Madhavaram New Bus Terminus, KK Nagar MTC Bus Terminus, Tambaram Arignar Anna Bus Terminus (MAIS),  Tambaram Railway Station Bus Terminus, Poonamallee Bus Terminus, and Koyambedu Bus Terminus.

Tambaram Railway Station Bus Terminus – Buses to Thiruvannamalai via Tindivanam, buses plying through Polur, Chethuppattu, Vandavassi, and Genji and buses to Puducherry, Cuddalore, & Chidambaramvia Tindivanam, Panrutti, Neyveli, Vadalur, Chidambaram, Kattumannarkovil, & Tindivanam.

Poonamallee Bus Terminus - Buses to Vellore, Aarani, Arcadu, Thirupathur, Kanchipuram, Cheyyaru, Hosur, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, & Thiruthani
