Distribution of Pongal gift packs for ration-card holders from today (4th Jan)!

The distribution of the Pongal gift pack along with a cash of Rs. 2500/- for the family ration-card holders commences today (Monday, 4th January) throughout the state of Tamil Nadu.
The distribution of the above Pongal gift pack is being organised by all the Fair Price Shops throughout the state for 100 family ration-card holders each in the forenoon and afternoon sessions.
The special Pongal gift pack contains - 1kg rice, 1kg sugar, full-length sugarcane, 5 grams cardamom, 20 grams each of cashew-nuts and raisins packed in a cloth bag. Along with this pack, a cash of Rs. 2500/- is also being given.
Distribution of tokens – For distribution of the above Pongal gift pack, tokens have already been distributed on a house-to-house visit. It is being organised to distribute this Pongal Gift Pack to 200 ration-card holders each day.
This distribution commencing today (4th January) will continue until 12th January. The State government of Tamil Nadu has announced that for those who are left out in the above period, the distribution of the gift pack will be done on 13th January.
Number of ration-card holders:
This special Pongal Gift Pack is being distributed to 21009963 ration-card holders, 20615805 rice-ration-card holders, Sri Lankan Tamil families of 18923 ration-card-holders, and 375235 family-ration-cards which were converted into rice-family-ration cards.
