In Chennai, entry of public to beaches stopped on Kaanum Pongal day this time

Pongal is a huge festival in Chennai and in the state of Tamil Nadu.
In 2021, Kaanum Pongal day falls on 16th January. The news is the entry of people to Marina Beach and to other beaches in TN would be stopped on this day.
Normally, many people flock the beaches and other places in Chennai and in TN on Kaanum pongal day is well known. This time, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are restrictions to protect the people from this deadly infection
From 1st of January, 50percent or maximum of 200 people would be allowed in the community halls, sports complexes, educational and religious places etc. This was mentioned by the CM of Tamil Nadu, Mr. E. Palaniswamy on Thursday.
Information gathered is there would be no restrictions on the number of persons engaged in indoor as well as outdoor shootings. The restrictions on time in the places of worship were also lifted.
