For the last few weeks, Chennai has been receiving heavy rains and this has made the lives of many very difficult.  Now, the rains might take a break after Wednesday in Chennai city. According to the weather experts, some parts of TN might receive light rains.

It must be noted that the cyclonic circulation has weakened near the Gulf of Mannar but it is still there. Information gathered is that the new cyclonic circulation in the Indian Ocean has now moved and extended above the sea level.

According to an official belonging to the RMC in Chennai it was clear that the cyclonic circulation over south east Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean and south Andaman Sea is lying over equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast bay of Bengal  extending up to 4.5km above the mean sea level. The official spoke about how yesterday’s cyclonic circulation over the Gulf of Mannar extending up to 1.5km above the mean sea level became less marked.

The coastal as well as southern TN would continue to get rains due to the activity near the Gulf of Mannar. Truth is that there is some uncertainty regarding the landfall about the new cyclonic circulation. It is now mentioned that the weakening circulation would result in light to moderate rains in isolated places in TN in the next 24 hours but there might not be heavy rainfall in the state anymore. After the 24 hours just light rains are expected. In the next 48 hours, Chennai would get light rains along with thunderstorms.

Chennai based weather blogger Mr. Pradeep john was of the view that with new circulation over Arabian Sea easterly winds would move easily and interior districts in TN would get rains.

Pull effect rains in Chennai:

The weather blogger then threw light on the pull effect rains that would be present in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpet etc. This would be there till the morning of Wednesday and then there would be a break. He hinted that the pull effect rains would be short and intense sometimes. Yesterday, Meenambakkam received 27.8mm rains and Nungambakkam received 8mm rains.
