Important information regarding the elevated Porur- Poonamallee metro line networks

For constructing the 7.85km elevated line of Chennai Metro phase-2 corridor-4 from Porur junction to Poonamallee Bypass, CMRL has received bids from 3 major construction firms now.
Hindustan Construction Company Ltd-KEC International Joint Venture, Larsen and Toubro Ltd and NCC Ltd had submitted their bids. This was according to some sources belonging to CMRL. The bids opened on Tuesday are well known.
It is now said that as a part of the works the bidder must construct elevated metro stations at Chennai Bypass crossing, Ramachandra Hospital, Iyyappanthangal Bus depot, Kattupakkam, Kumanan Chawadi, Karayan Chawadi, Mullai Thottam, Poonamallee bus terminus and Poonamallee Bypass.
It is well known that the bidders must also construct associated elevated lines and depot lines for training maintenance depot at Poonamallee. Point is that this is the second elevated package of 26.09 km corridor-4 connecting LightHouse and Poonamallee Bypass where bids have been opened.
Bids were opened by CMRL for constructing 7.955km elevated section of corridor-4 from Power House to Porur Junction on Arcot Road and construction of 9 elevated stations. For that stretch too, the same 3 above mentioned companies have applied.
Technical evaluation:
The next step is CMRL would send for technical evaluation after opening the bids. This technical evaluation would take another couple of weeks and finally the contract would be awarded.
After handing over contracts, the companies are expected to complete the construction works in a time of 3 years. This was according to some sources. For the construction of as many as 29 underground metro stations in the corridor-3 from Madhavaram to Taramani stretch under 5 packages for timely completion of the work, CMRL has also invited bids now.
The 5 packages under which the tenders were invited were Madhavaram to Perambur, Ayanavaram to Kellys, KMC to Royapettah, Radhakrishnan Salai to Adyar Junction and Adyar depot to Taramani Link Road.
The scrutinising of the bids received by the CMRL for constructing 9lm tunnels from Venugopal Nagar to Kellys plus 12km tunnels from Kellys to Taramani Road junction in the corridor-3 has been going on also. It is now mentioned that CMRL would be expanding its network in phase-2.
