What is meant by Green Crackers?

The Supreme Court, in the year 2018, ordered for the production of crackers which would not pollute the atmosphere and be less harmful to human health. On this basis, the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute Center (NEERI), functioning under the Science and Industrial Research Council, formed a committee of 28 scientists to d research on this front. After a 9 months’ research, this committee had discovered a new chemical formula- this is known as ‘green crackers’!
These green crackers will make the same noise while exploding just like the presently made crackers. However, the pollution created by this green cracker will be far less than the usual crackers. The green crackers are made with a lesser quantum of the release of nitrogen and sulphur emissions.
NEERI has informed that as compared to the burning of the normal crackers, the pollution level of burning the green crackers will be lesser by 30% to 50%!
The green crackers, after burning, will not form into the black substance as in the case of the normal crackers, - instead, the green crackers, on burning, will get converted into water drops. As the Nitrogen and Sulphur content in the crackers get dissolved in these water drops, water is considered as an important factor in reducing the pollution substantially. Hence, this type of crackers is being called ‘Water Releaser’!
