Schools Reopening Parents feed back to be collected!

Posted on: 09/Nov/2020 12:05:12 PM
The commencement of meetings with parents and academicians for gathering their observations/opinions/suggestions regarding the reopening of schools started this morning (Monday, 9th November).

All the schools in Tamil Nadu were closed from 25th March as a preventive measure with the lockdown imposition and are still to reopen though 7 months have gone by and the substantial earning period has gone! In this situation, with the procedure of announcing gradual relaxations in the stringent conditions, it was proposed by the government to reopen the schools for the classes from 9th Standard to +2 from 15th November. However, the opposition political parties raised objections. In this scenario, the State Government of Tami Nadu has ordered to organise meetings in over the 12000 schools in the state to gather the observations/opinions/suggestions of the parents of the students.

Accordingly, organising meeting with the parents to record their observations/suggestions/opinions commenced today (Monday, 9th November) in all schools (over 12000) in Tami Nadu.

The meetings are being organised in the Chennai Metro City Schools adhering to the social distancing norms. The parents of the students in 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th Standards are participating in the meeting giving their opinions/observations/suggestions on this issue. Parents who could not participate in the above meetings can convey their opinions through letters.

In Chennai Metro City, in some schools, the opinions/suggestions/observations are obtained through a questionnaire format distributed to them to answer and submit.  These formats, filed by the parents, will be sent to the District Education Officers.

Subsequently, based on the majority of the opinions given by the parents, a decision will be taken by the State Government of Tami Nadu whether to reopen the schools or to postpone further!
