Good News for ESIC Members - Maternity Welfare Fund increased! Details!

The Central Ministry of Labour has increased the maternity welfare Fund from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 7500 for the members of ESIC (Employees State Insurance Corporation).

The Central Government has made some revision in Rules and Regulations. As per this, among the Rules of the Employees State Insurance (Central) Rules – 1950, Rule 51 B will be omitted.  This has been informed with a related government order.

ESIC Rules – Rule 51 B – When the Act is being implemented for the 1st time, the share of 3% of the monthly income of the employee and 1% as the share of the employer on the same amount is indicated. 24 years after the implementation of this Act, as per Clause 51, the employer share is modified as 4.75% and the employee’s share as 1.76%.

The employees and employers’ shares have increased as per the above modifications, a correction has been made in this arrangement. Apart from this, the central government has also enhanced the repayment of the ESIC Members’ Maternity Concessions.

As per the announcement released by the Central Ministry of Labour, as per the ESIC Main Rules 1950, 50 A, the amount mentioned as Rs. 6000 has now been increased to Rs. 7500.

Enhancement of Maternity Welfare Benefits

A woman covered under this insurance, and the Employee who has covered insurance for his wife, based on the maternity expenses, will be offered Rs. 5000 as a medical bonus for each case. Further, these maternity benefits detailed above will be given for only the 1st 2 maternity periods. After the revision, this amount of Rs. 5000 has now been increased to Rs. 7500/-.
