The number of active COVID cases in all GCC zones is 5% or below 5% now

The latest news is that on Monday, 26th October 20120, the number of active Coronavirus cases came down to less than 10,000 in Chennai city. This has now grabbed many eyeballs.

Important information gathered is that in all GCC zones the number of active cases is below 5% and Perungudi zone has got 5percent active cases. On Monday morning, Chennai had 9639 active Coronavirus cases and this was as per the data from the Chennai Corporation.

There are just 4% active cases in as many as9 zones like TVK Nagar, Anna Nagar, Adyar, Kodambakkam, Teynampet etc. It must not be forgotten that in the third week of September the number of active cases in Chennai city went down below 10,000 but increased again.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 infection, Chennai reported 1.95lakh cases and of those more than 1.82 lakh persons have recovered. The mortality rate is 1.84% and as many as 3592 have passé away.

It is interesting to note that Manali zone in north Chennai has got just 106 active cases and that is 3percent. On the other hand, Anna Nagar zone has got the highest number of active cases and it stands at 850. As many as 450 deaths took place in Teynampet zone and that has been the highest till now.

The civic body has been conducting more Coronavirus tests despite a decrease in the number of active cases. As many as 11,059 samples were tested on Sunday alone. It is worthy to mention that the number of containment zones has come down and Chennai has just 12 now. 

The GCC has removed all the containment zones in Chennai just a few weeks back when the fresh cases were reduced. Just a few days ago, the number of containment zones increased to 70 due to a sudden spike in the cases.
