After a period of 83 days, fresh COVID cases go below 5000 in Tamil Nadu

On Monday, 12th October, the state of Tamil Nadu recorded 4879 fresh Covid-19 cases. Point is that after a period of 83 days this was the first time TN had recorded less than 5000 fresh cases in a day.

The case tally stands at 661264 in TN and the total number of deaths stands at 10314 in TN. There are as many as 43747 active cases now. Fresh Covid-19 cases had increased every month from March to August. The state of TN reported just 124 cases in the month of March and it went to 2199 in April. In the months of May, June and July, the number of cases rose to 20,010, 67,834 and 155,692 respectively.

In the month of August, TN reported as many as 182,182 cases and in September the number of cases reduced to 169,561. Information gathered is that in this month of October the state of TN had 63,662 cases till now.

According to the TN state health minister, Mr. C. Vijayabaskar, work has been going on in an aggressive manner to reduce the number of cases. He pointed out that the recovery rate has been high and the mortality rate has been low. He concluded that in the unlock times it was necessary for the people to wear facemasks and maintain social distancing compulsorily.

It was on 21st July 2020 Tamil Nadu recorded less than 5000 fresh Covid-19 cases in a day. Afterwards, the number of fresh cases went above 5000 but below 7000 mark. On 27th July, TN recorded the highest number of fresh cases in a day and it was 6993.

Important piece of information is that on Monday 8 districts e central zone and 10 districts of south zone recorded less than 500 cases. As many as1212 fresh cases were reported in Chennai yesterday. Neighbouring districts like Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur together reported 613 fresh cases yesterday. 

Coimbatore belonging to the western districts had 393 cases and next was Salem with 304 cases. The total number of cases was 1499 from the western districts. Southern districts like Tanjavore and Thiruvarur reported cases in three digits and others in two digits.
