Strong winds and heavy rains in the next 2 days in Chennai

On Friday, the RMC Chennai issued a warning about the strong winds and moderate to heavy rains. It has asked the fishermen belonging to TN and Puducherry not to venture into the sea for the next 2 days of time. Those fishermen who have already gone to catch fish have been asked to return back to the shores.
It has been pointed out by the officials belonging to RMC that thunderstorms are expected in TN and there would be winds with speed 40 to 60 km ph along the coastal places over the next 5 days.
The RMC had also predicted that on 10th October, there would be isolated heavy rainfall in places like Tiruvallur, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Theni, Dindigul, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Salem, Namakkal and Vellore.
As per the Chennai based weather blogger Mr. Pradeep John typical pre-Northeast monsoon rains were witnessed in Chennai, Kancheepuram,Tiruvallur and in the interior parts of TN. He added that overhead clouds would form in Chennai today plus along the coastal areas after a hot day.
Truth is that as the low pressure develops and moves towards north AP convergence would shift to northern TN and it would lead to thunderstorms. There was an occasional burst of rains early in the morning followed by a sunny afternoon in Chennai.
The movements of easterly winds are responsible for the rains and this was mentioned by Mr. S. Balachandran, director of RMC, Chennai. He then spoke about the moisture build-up in the last few days. He hinted about light to moderate rains in Chennai for the next 2 days.
On Friday, the maximum temperature that was recorded in Nungambakkam was 34.6 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature recorded in Meenambakkam was 34.5 degrees Celsius. Nungambakkam had a minimum temperature of 28.3 degrees Celsius and Meenambakkam had a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius.
