Heavy traffic congestion at toll plazas now

Posted on: 01/Sep/2020 9:52:53 AM
After five months of lock down, all the toll plazas around Chennai saw heavy traffic congestion on Monday, 31st August 2020.

It is common knowledge that the TN state is set to open up for renewed economic activity from 1st September and the toll plazas had heavy traffic. Information is Paranur toll plaza near Chengalpet witnessed heavy vehicular traffic yesterday. The heavy traffic congestion here was mainly due to the fact that many people began returning back to Chennai from different towns in TN.

As the TN government has allowed most of the commercial establishments and industries to operate in full flow from 1st September, many returned to Chennai through their two wheelers, cars etc from faraway places .Residents from the neighbouring districts also came back to Chennai and this also added to the traffic congestion.

A Trichy based person who is the owner of an eatery in Chennai mentioned that due to the lockdown he and his family left Chennai to their native. After the government had relaxed the restrictions he and his family have returned back to Chennai.

A Vandalur based person highlighted that he had left Chennai due to the lock down restrictions and has now come back to Chennai as his firm has reopened. He then added that he had reached Paranur toll plaza at around 8am in the morning.

The non-operation of the inter-district buses was brought out by some residents. A resident explained about how waiting for the resumption of the public transport was very difficult and hence he hired a car to reach Chennai.
