400 mobile ration shops for the Chennai residents soon

On Wednesday, 12th August 2020, Mr. Sellur K. Raju, co-operation minister mentioned that the TN government would open 3500 permanent mobile ration shops to avoid crowding. The highest number of mobile ration shops, 400 shops would be in Chennai city.
The shops are now being identified and soon the CM of TN Mr. E. Palaniswami would be inaugurating the scheme for the benefit of the people. It is known that there were more ration shops serving 2500 cardholders. It is now revealed by the TN cooperation minister that the mobile shops would reduce congestion at the existing shops. He hinted that new ones would be set up in the congested places.
During the lockdown period, the TN government has provided cash relief plus free ration to 98 percent of the people and this was through the network of 32,970 shops under his department. This was according to the co-operation minister. Availing farm loans have been made easy by the TN cooperative banks and this was done to increase the economic activity in the rural places after copious rains.
The minister later spoke about how these microfinance banks were computerized and automated and these banks would be able to work on par with the commercial banks in providing loans.
