A record of 60,000 plus people tested for COVID in TN in single day

As many as 60,375 persons have been tested for Coronavirus infection in the state of TN yesterday 23rd July 2020. This has resulted in as many as 6472 positive cases in TN yesterday. In TN, as many as 88 persons lost their lives on Thursday due to this infection. Eleven persons out of 88 did not have any co-morbid conditions in them.
Chennai had 1336 Coronavirus positive cases and there were 375 cases from the district of Chengalpet. Districts like Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram recorded 416 and 330 cases respectively. In the entire Tamil Nadu, district of Chengalpet has got the highest positivity rate of 19.83%.
This was revealed by data taken from March to 21st July from the Health Department. Chennai has got positivity rate of 17.77% and TN on the whole has a positivity rate of 9.07%. It is important to mention that India has a positivity rate of 8.30%.
Districts lie Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram and Ranipet with positivity rates of 14.13%, 11.71% and 11.65% respectively stand above the all India figure of 8.30%. As many as 19 districts in TN have got positivity rates of more than 5% now. Spread of Covid-19 infection is under the control is indicated by 5% or less than 5% positivity rate. This was as per some experts.
From as many as 92279 samples tested, Madurai district has got a positivity rate of 8.85% whereas the positivity rate of Coimbatore is just 2.31% from as many as 102107 samples tested. TN tests per million population is 24262.
It is now brought out that Chennai and 12 other districts of TN have surpassed TN figure on this aspect. Truth is the incidence of disease per million population in the Chennai city and 5 other districts of TN was higher than TN.
The Directorate of Public Health data has revealed that TN has tested 2157869 samples and 2075522 persons till now.
