All private sector entities in Chennai to test staffs for Coronavirus infection

With Coronavirus infection spreading fast from one person to another, it is necessary to test people to know whether they are infected or not.
The news that has come out now is soon it would become compulsory for all the private sector entities belonging to Chennai including Banks, IT sector, factories and media sector to test their employees for Coronavirus infection. The tests would be carried out using antibody kits.
Greater Chennai Corporation or GCC has taken this above said decision after it had tested more than 1000 frontline workers using antibody kits in Ripon Buildings. It is at this Ripon Buildings the Chennai corporation headquarters is located is known to us.
Chennai Corporation commissioner, Mr. G. Prakash expressed his views and spoke about how 15 percent of the frontline workers have developed antibodies after getting recovered from the viral infection. Point is 5 percent of them have tested Coronavirus positive. Antibody kits are superior and they provide quick results plus they are cost effective also. This was as per Mr. Prakash.
It is important to note that antibody kits could also be used to identify those who are immune to the infection. For the purpose of diagnosing Covid-19 cases, currently RT-PCR tests are used by the state government.
The ICMR had mentioned that antibody tests could be used to identify the prevalence of the infection but not diagnosis. For the diagnosis of Covid-19 infection, RT-PCR tests remain the standard tests.
From the ICMR website having an empanelled list of companies, private firms must purchase the test kits to conduct the tests. It must be noted that the tests would give an idea about the community spread.
To ensure that the industries have healthy workers and continuous workflow, Rotary Club of Madras (oldest institution in the state) would be testing a protocol as a pilot project. Soon, the employees of Saint Gobain, Boyce etc would be tested.
