Entire Tamil Nadu came to standstill on Sunday due to intense lockdown

The roads in TN had just policemen and other health personnel only and there was a deserted look everywhere. This was the scenario on Sunday.
For controlling the Coronavirus pandemic, it was announced that there would be intense lockdown on the Sundays in TN. This intense lockdown has been highly successful now.
The people stayed inside their houses, there were no vehicles on the roads plus markets and other shops were closed yesterday. The entire state of TN came to standstill. There would be extension of the lockdown in Madurai and nearby regions including Paravai Town Panchayat and several village panchayats till 14th of July.
According to the directives of the government, just hospitals, pharmacies, labs and ambulance services worked yesterday. The roads in Tamil Nadu were empty. Yesterday, 12th July was the second successive Sunday where intense lockdown with no relaxation was observed in TN. Fact is in this month of July, there would be 2 more Sundays where intense lockdown without relaxations would be there.
Many measures have been taken by the state government to control the spread of Covid-19 infection and this state wide intense lockdown is one such measure.
In the Chennai city and in other parts belonging to TN, the health workers were busy as usual conducting door-to-door checks to identify those with flu like symptoms. Cleaning and disinfecting of the roads, streets, bus stands, markets and other places have been carried out by the sanitary workers belonging to GCC.
Mist cannons that are huge blowers mounted on the trucks were seen in many neighbourhoods spraying disinfectant fumes in the containment zones and in those localities with Coronavirus positive patients.
Information collected is out of total 43000 pulse oximeters that were ordered as many as 23,000 have been received. This was according to Mr. C. Vijayabaskar, health minister of TN.
