No online education in TN; Only plans to teach through the TV: TN Education Minister

All academic institutions such as schools and colleges have remained closed for the last few months in the country. Several academic institutions, including private schools, have started conducting online classes.
Information started circulating since yesterday (Wednesday, 8th July) that the State Government of Tamil Nadu has planned to commence online classes for the students studying in government and government-aided schools as well and that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is scheduled to inaugurate these planned online classes from 13th July.
In this scenario, the Tamil Nadu State Government Minister for School Education, K. A. Sengottaiyan, has given a categorical explanation today (Thursday, 9th July) that there are NO PLANS to COMMENCE ONLINE EDUCATION and there are plans only to conduct teaching classes through TV.
While giving an interview to the press reporters yesterday (8th July), Minister Sengottaiyan explained:
“The ‘online education\ mentioned earlier pertained to the classes conducted on television and not through the internet and the teaching classes are telecast on the Education Channel.
Please note that these television teaching classes will be telecast in other channels apart from the Education TV - Thanthi, Polymer Pudhiya Thalaimurai, and Podhigai.
Specific times have been allotted for each of the above channels and we are planning to telecast teaching for certain classes.
As the +2 students have laptop computers, the lessons will be downloaded and made available to them. The session of asking questions will be done once a week. The timetable for this is being prepared. The State Chief Minister is set to inaugurate this event only.”
