Alterations in trains route and schedule

The Southern railway has altered the schedules for 5 trains including the Silambu Express that connects Chennai Egmore to Sengottai. Moreover, the destination points and the stopping points have been shifted from the original. A new schedule has been released as per this amendment.

A request has been placed to the Southern Railway to shift the train terminals and the stopping points as well as the working days of certain trains. As per this, five trains including the Silambu express has been altered in their schedules and stopping. Also, a few train terminals have been shifted. The Railway Board has released orders for these changes in the rail routes and schedules for the year 2020-21.

As per the amendments, the trains between Chennai central to Bhubaneswar (12295/12296) and Chennai central to Chandrakachi (12687/12688) will arrive and depart from Tambaram Railway station and not from Chennai Central. The express trains that run between KSR Bangalore to Danapur (12295/12296) and Madurai to Chandigarh (12687/12688) will refrain from stopping at Chennai Central rather stop at Perambur station.

Adding on, the working days of the express train have been changed. The express train that runs between Chennai Central and Sengottai, Silambu (16181) will run on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday which was previously functioning on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. On the return (16182), the Sengottai to Chennai Central train will return on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday which previously worked on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

The trains between Tambaram to Nagerkovil (22657) which are being sent on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be run on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday as per the new schedules. The train on the return (22658) will function on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

The express that runs between Nagerkovil and Kacha Gutta (16354) trailing on Tuesdays will run on Saturdays as per the new schedule and the train will return on (16353) Sunday which was previously on Wednesdays.

Rameswaram to Kanyakumari (22622) express will run on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and on return (22621) will trail on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday. Tirupati to Rameswaram (16779) train will run on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday and return on (16780) will function on Friday, Sunday, and Tuesday as per the new schedules approved by the India Railway Board.
