Why does smelling sense get affected by coronavirus infection?

British Scientists have given an explanation of why and how the sense of smell gets affected when infected with the coronavirus.

The experts from the Guys and St, Thomas hospitals in Britain share in this regard:

“An analysis was undertaken with 202 coronavirus-infected patients as to how the coronavirus affects the senses of smell and taste.

Out of the patients, 103 are women. The average of the surveyed 202 patients is 56.

As per the data compiled as per their experience/observations, 55 patients lost the senses of smell and taste, but they were restored after 4 weeks.

Further, 46 patients showed improvement in the returns of smell and taste senses within a month’s period.

For 12 patients affected with coronavirus infection, this loss of sense and taste got worse!

While analyzing the data compiled as above, it was established that the infection of coronavirus was not responsible for the patients’ loss of the senses of smell and taste.

It is understood that the main symptoms of the coronavirus of cold and fever leading to breathing blocks and the non-functioning of the related glands only were the reasons for the loss of the senses of smell and taste.”

As such, from the above analysis, the experts have observed that there is no connection between the coronavirus infection and the loss of the senses of smell and taste!
