According to Mr. G. Prakash, Chennai Corporation commissioner, in the last month, the Coronavirus positive cases in the slums belonging to Chennai city have decreased.

He spoke about how out of the cases reported every day in the Tondiarpet zone just 10 percent get reported from the slum areas. In the Royapuram zone, just 8 percent of Coronavirus cases are from the slum areas. There has been an improvement in the last month.

It must not be forgotten that recently the Community Intervention Programme or CIP was organized by GCC in the slums and densely populated places in these important zones of north Chennai. It is now pointed out that this CIP has been responsible for the decrease or drop in the numbers in these places.

Chennai city has got as many as 1,979 slums is a known fact. The testing has been increased to more than 10,000 for the last 15 days. It is brought out that soon the number of tests would be increased to 12,000 per day.

The Chennai Corporation commissioner later highlighted how 35,000 tests per million populations are being conducted in the city. It is important to mention here that Chennai city had reported more than 2,000 Coronavirus cases for the third successive day yesterday.
