Reopening of schools: Experts team submits the 1st Phase Report

The 16-member Committee of Experts which was formed regarding the finalization of the revised syllabus for Tamil Nadu Schools, headed by the Commissioner of the Department of School Education, C G Thomas Vaidyan has submitted its 1st Phase Report.

It is further informed that the final report will be presented after the guidelines/regulations given by the Central Government.

As a preventive measure against the spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic, all the schools were closed from 17th March. Further, as the impact/intensity of the coronavirus pandemic spreading has not reduced at all in the subsequent periods till present, there has been an inevitable and unavoidable delay in reopening of schools for classes to begin for the next academic year.

Subsequently, a 16-member Committee was formed under the leadership of the Commissioner of the Department of the School Education to study, review and submit recommendations regarding the extent of affection of the above situation on education, the delay in reopening of schools, etc. This Committee has conducted 4 meetings so far.

Further, suggestions/comments/recommendations were obtained from the academicians, teachers, and parents in this regard.  After a detailed analysis and review of the various factors in this regard, it is learned that the 16-members Expert Committee has submitted its 1st Phase report to the State Government Secretary for the Department of School Education, Dheeraj Kumar on Wednesday (10th June).

It is mentioned that this report contains various aspects of the issue such as encouraging conducting online classes, undertaking the guidelines/recommendations given by the central government regarding the reopening of schools, etc.

The officials further informed that the Committee will submit its final report of recommendations as per the guidelines/regulations given by the Central Government.
