Posted on: 01/Jun/2020 3:35:17 PM
COVID-19 has become the new reality for this country and with the increasing number of cases every day, it has become even more essential for law enforcement and the citizens to take equal ownership in containing this virus. While, social distancing and staying home have been the new normal for the past 60 days, with the recent lockdown relaxation announcement in Bengaluru, it is imperative that residents do not forget the enormity of the situation and continue to make safe and sound decisions.

To reinforce its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the top rank at Bengaluru Police partnered with Lowe Lintas and GolinOpinion. Lowe Lintas conceived an emotional campaign that motivated the people of Namma Bengaluru to protect themselves and their families while the lockdown eases out. GolinOpinion ensured the campaign reached the people who hold an emotional influence over residents of the city, who fanned the message further. The campaign gave the people of Bengaluru an opportunity to genuinely appreciate the enormous efforts taken by the Bengaluru Police force focused on their well-being. The idea of #NanuKoodaBengaluruPolice and #iAmAlsoBengaluruPolice came to life through the twin efforts made by both the agency partners.

The campaign intends to raise a tribute to the great work done by Bengaluru Police and ensure the people of Namma Bengaluru make a promise to be responsible and safe even as the lockdown is easing off restrictions.

Adding to this cause, celebrities, cricketers and well-known faces of Bengaluru like Robin Uthappa, Sunil Joshi, Sanchari Vijay, Sonal Monteiro and many more have actively participated in the campaign, and their appeal has further energized more people to take care and be safe during this 4.0 version of the lockdown. Through pictures and videos, the celebrities can be seen showing support towards the campaign by tagging themselves as #NanuKoodaBengaluruPolice and #iAmAlsoBengaluruPolice.

Bhaskar Rao, Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru said, “Ever since the lockdown started, the police force has been at the forefront of the battle against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Ensuring an effective lockdown and following the necessary social distancing protocols have helped in controlling the spread of this disease until now. With the lockdown easing, it is natural that the role of police will decrease and that of the public will increase. Thus, it is imperative that citizens also police themselves so that together we can contain the spread of the virus. This message has been captured in an impactful and creative way through campaign #NanuKoodaBengaluruPolice.”

Showing his support towards the strong message, Sunil Joshi, Chief Selector of the Indian National Cricket Team said, “Bangalore has an average population of 13-15million people and keeping the entire population in control is an absolute mammoth task. Despite this challenge, the Bangalore Police have been working round the clock and doing a tremendous job around the city. However, it is important that we as citizizens take responsibility for our own life and police ourselves as well as people around us, especially our families. We need to take little steps like ensuring our family members don’t go out unnecessarily or without a mask, the kids in the building stay indoors instead of playing outside, the watchman is following basic hygiene and keeping himself safe. I am extremely proud to be a part of this movement as it is a great way to show our support to the police force while doing our bit for the community.”

Commenting on the campaign, Sagar Kapoor, CCO, Lowe Lintas said "The Bengaluru Police is working relentlessly to keep us safe in every manner possible. With the lockdown easing out in the Bengaluru city it is the responsibility of each and every household to look after their family member and take effective care of one another. Staying true to the spirit, the whole campaign #NanuKoodaBengaluruPolice has been created by staying at home. All partners connected digitally and executed the campaign from their respective homes."

The people have taken the campaign to heart, with the hashtag #NanuKoodaBengaluruPolice trending across social media platforms. With this support, the Bengaluru Police hopes to build support amongst all its citizens and pay a true tribute to all police officers, doctors, and healthcare professionals.
