Tamil Nadu government announcement on relaxations:

The central government had announced the UNLOCK 1.0 with gradual relaxations from 1st to 30th June!

Today (Sunday, 31st May), the state government of Tamil Nadu has announced that the lockdown will continue until 30th June with new relaxations.

In the Chennai Metro City, except for the containment zones already identified, where the lockdown will be imposed stringently, all other zones have been granted with a lot of relaxations.

All private sector industries are allowed to work with 50% of their workforce. Also, the state government has emphasised on asking the employees to work from home to the extent possible!

Permission has been granted to allow the deployment of 20% personnel in IT (Information Technology) industry sector to start with 20% of employees in the transport arranged with a maximum of 40 persons.

Except for the commercial vehicles, all showrooms, the bigger textile/jewellery shops, etc., are permitted to open deploying 50% employees. Further, it must be ensured that at any given time, not more than 5 customers are inside the shop premises! Especially, social distancing MUST BE ADHERED TO! Air-conditioners must be off!

As per the central government order, from 8th June, customers are permitted to enter the hotels/restaurants and eat there! However, only 50% of the seating capacity must be utilized! A/C is not allowed.

From 8th June, customers are allowed to visit the tea shops and drink tea sitting on the provided seats. However, teashops and hotels can give only parcel service until 7th June!

Vegetable shops and grocery shops are allowed to function from 6.00 AM to 8.00 PM.

Further, hair-dressing shops and beauty parlours are allowed to function without a/c and strictly following the guidelines.

In Autos, only 2 passengers will be permitted apart from the driver. Cycle-rickshaws are permitted to operate!
