Railways would be operating 100 pairs of passenger trains for the sake of public on 1st June 2020. Within the first 2.5 hours of opening the booking, nearly 4 lakhs tickets were booked.

Trains that would be operated on 1st June are Durontos, Sampark Krantis, Jan Shatabdis and Poorva express etc. It was mentioned by a railways person that at 12:00 hours 73 trains were available in the system for booking and 149,025 tickets were booked having 290510 passengers. Both air-conditioned as well as non air-conditioned classes with fully reserved coaches would be present in these trains.

Important information gathered is these would be run on the pattern of regular trains. These special trains would cover tier-2 cities plus state capitals like Mumbai and Kolkata etc.

Reverse booking were also done by the people so that they would be able to come back easily. From Friday, select reservation counters would be opened at stations. It is well known that the reservation counters were closed due to Corona virus containment nearly 2 months ago.

As per Mr. Piyush Goyal, railways minister, announcement regarding the resumption of more trains would be made soon. It has been pointed out by an order from the railway board that counters along with common service centres could be opened from 22nd May 2020 for booking reserved tickets. The order also brought out that the zonal railways could identify stations on which the ticket counters could be opened.

Point is from Friday booking of train tickets would start at nearly 1.7 lakh common service centres across India. By this, the services would be accessible even to those people who do not have internet and computer etc.

It is important to note that the opening of ticket counters at stations would be graded as a protocol needed to be developed to make sure there is no crowd there.
