State Government of Tamil Nadu conditionally allows shooting for television

With the uncontrolled spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic, the 4th Phase of the lockdown conditions has been imposed throughout the country as a preventive measure.

On the 1st day of the 1st Phase of the lockdown imposition (25th March), all cinema-related activities were banned. With this, the lifelines of lakhs of employees associated with the film industry - cinema and television serials/shows - have been subjected to huge hardship with the main source of income gone making the daily life extremely miserable!

Meanwhile, the state government of Tamil Nadu announced permission a few days ago to conduct only the post-production activities.

In a recent development, the state government of Tamil Nadu has permitted the television-related shootings (serials, etc.,) under certain conditions from tomorrow (Friday, 22nd May).

Some of the conditions:
  • Shootings will not be permitted under the banned/containment zones and in public places. Only indoor shooting sessions will be permitted. Spectators will not be allowed.
  • Except for the artistes - actors and actresses - performing, all other technical workmen MUST WEAR FACE MASKS.
  • For conducting shooting in the Chennai Metro City, prior permission MUST be obtained from the Commissioner of the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), For shooting in other states, permission must be obtained from the respective state collectors.
  • A maximum of 20 persons will be allowed to participate in the shooting session
