TASMAC shops open again after a week’s gap!

With the latest verdict from the Supreme Court, the Tamil Nadu State Government TASMAC shops were opened again today (Saturday, 16th May).
TASMAC shops remained closed due to the lockdown imposition as a preventive measure against the spreading of the raging coronavirus pandemic. However, following the recent relaxations announced, the TASMAC shops were opened on 7th May. However, a public petition was filed against this and it came up for enquiry in the Chennai High Court which ordered the TASMAC shops to be closed.
Subsequently, the state government of Tamil Nadu appealed against this to the Supreme Court.
After conducting the enquiry, the Supreme Court ordered an interim ban on the verdict given by the Chennai High Court!
With this, the Tamil Nadu State Government TASMAC shops which remained closed for a week, were open again today (16th May) in all areas except the contained zones.
In order to avoid crowd build-up, the token system is being followed for the liquor sales. The buyer who waited right from the early morning for the purchase, got their tokens, stood and waited in the long queue and went on to buy liquor!
