Chennai city now gets wash basins for cleaning hands, public to get benefited

The GCC has been taking many steps to create awareness about the dangerous Coronavirus infection. At this time, washing hands regularly and hygiene is very important to prevent the spreading of this infection.

It is now said that the civic body has installed washbasins in few places in the Chennai city for the sake of people. Information got is corporate staff would be cleaning these washbasins plus they would also ensure soap and water.

In the places like junctions, tea stalls, bus stands, vegetable markets. Places where many people gather etc, GCC has been installing washbasins. In the south zone atleast 30 washbasins have been installed by GCC. Some officials belonging to GCC explained how it was important to encourage people regarding the washing of hands and how to ensure hygiene among the people. Thus, it would be possible to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection and save many.

It was pointed out by an official that when running water was available in any location, then GCC would just fix taps to the supply. The conservancy staff clean the washbasins regularly and make sure that water and soap are available. He concluded that each zone has been provided with an amount of Rs 1 lakh for installing washbasins with a water supply and drainage and provide soap.

This move by GCC has been was appreciated by many now. Mr. Harsha Koda, coordinator, Federation of OMR Residents Association, spoke about how it was nice to see washbasins functioning.
