Renovation project of 9 overhead Railway Stations!

In the overhead rail route of MRTS (Mass Rapid Transit System) between Chennai Beach and Velacherry, 9 railway stations are to be fully renovated at a cost of Rs. 10 Crores.
Over the recent periods, there has been a considerable increase in the number of passengers using MRTS between Chennai Beach and Velacherry. Subsequently, the passenger facilities are being improved and new facilities are being introduced. As such, the facilities for the passengers waiting in the MRTS stations are also being taken up to be provided.
So, construction works left in balance and additional construction wherever required for space has been planned.
In the overhead track project Velacherry - St.Thomas Mount, there is a track section Velacherry - Adambakkam. The work on section Adambakkam - St. Thomas Mount is yet to be taken up. This has to be completed and after that when there is extended electric train service in section Velacherry - St.Thomas Mount, the number of passengers utilizing MRTS will further increase.
With this objective, it has been planned to increase the construction facilities in all the stations on this route.
The remaining construction works at the stations Mundagakkanni Amman Temple, Mandavelli, Greenways Road, Kasturba Nagar, Indira Nagar, Thiruvanmyur, Taramani, Perungudi, and Velacherry are set to be taken up at a cost of Rs. 19 Crores.
A Railway Construction official informed that the above construction work is planned to be completed within 10 months.
