At select places in Chennai division, data loggers installed

In the year 2019, railways had installed data loggers in as many as 41 railway stations in India including Central and Jolarpettai. At the select locations in Chennai division, these data loggers have been installed now. With built-in an instrument, the data logger is an electronic device that records data over time in relation to the location of trains.

For the purpose of ensuring monitoring, data loggers have been installed at all the train interchange point with the adjacent division. This was mentioned by Mr P. Mahesh, Chennai divisional railway manager. Sensor would scan the axles of train coaches including loco and its movement would be updated automatically.

In the year 2019, the Chennai division had spent an amount of Rs 40.82 crores towards passenger amenities. At Chennai division, free Wi-Fi connections have been provided for the passengers at 135 railway stations.

In places like Egmore, Chetpet, Guindy, Kodambakkam, Saidapet, St Thomas Mount, Pallavaram and Chromepet, double discharge platforms are under progress. During the night travel, women RPF staffs are being deployed for 6 ladies/general trains in Arakkonam - Velachery - Arakkonam and Tambaram - Beach - Tambaram section. It must be noted that on Tuesday, Mr Guganesan, station director Chennai central took over as new chief public relations officer of the southern railway.
