Protein-rich foods for the vegetarian food eaters

Intake of proteins is important for our health. It is known that proteins support many essential functions of the human body. Various functions of proteins are boosting of metabolism, bones strengthening, supporting the muscles and giving them required strength.

Non-vegetarian foods like chicken, lean beef etc have high amounts of proteins is well known to us, There are many who are strict vegetarians and they do not eat these foods at all. For these vegetarians, there are few vegetarian foods available and these foods are rich in proteins.

Important piece of information is on an average a male needs 56 gms of proteins daily and a female needs 46 gms of proteins daily.

Various vegetarian foods that are rich in proteins are

Intake of peanuts:

Not many are aware of the fact that peanuts have the same amount of protein just similar to that of chicken. The point here is from 100gms of chicken we could get 27 gms of protein and from 100 gms of peanuts, we could get 26 gms of proteins.

Intake of almonds:

Being a rich source of protein, almonds are vegetarian foods and are superb for our cognitive functions. It must be noted that 100 gms of almonds have 21.15 gms of proteins/ 100 gms.

Intake of oats:

The high proteins present in oats have made them as one of the most preferred foods for many now. Other ingredients in oats are magnesium, fibres, manganese and thiamine etc. It is important to note that oats contain 16.9 gms per 100 gms of proteins and they could easily replace eggs.

Intake of paneer:

One type of vegetarian food that has got plenty of proteins is paneer. They are also low fat and low-calorie food. Apart from proteins, paneer has also got other ingredients like phosphorus, calcium, vitamin B12, selenium, riboflavin etc. It must be taken into account that protein in paneer is 14gms /100 gms.

Intake of rajma:

Otherwise called as kidney beans, rajma has many ingredients like potassium, calcium proteins etc in it. It is said that intake of rajma soup or rajma curry could fulfil the body’s daily protein needs. It must be noted that the protein in rajma is 9gm per 100 gm.

Intake of Quinoa:

There are many minerals as well as vitamins present t in quinoa and it is one of the highly preferred superfoods.  Protein in quinoa is 4.4 gms per 100 gms of proteins.
