The price of the small onion (sambar onion) has shot up to Rs. 110 per kg in the Chennai Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market!
The price of the big onion (Ballari) has increased from Rs. 70 per kg to Rs. 80 per kg!
Acute shortage in the quantity of onions arriving from other states is the main reason attributed to this steep price rise and demand for onions.
