Chennai flyovers, subways becoming colorful!

Don’t be surprised to see flyovers, subways, grade separators and rail over bridges etc glowing brightly in the Chennai city in the future.
It is now said that GCC or Greater Chennai Corporation would deck these above-mentioned structures with dynamic lighting. These structures would get a glowing makeover soon. It is important to note that the civic body has identified the structures to be transformed.
A proposal has been prepared by the civic body and it is now waiting for administrative sanction for the project estimated to cost Rs 33.8 crores.
As per the Commissioner of Chennai Corporation, Mr G. Prakash, it is clear that by dynamic lighting these structures would be beautified. He spoke about how there would some sense of identity attached to the lighting of these structures. He threw light on the bridges etc and said how in the major cities across the world bridges were considered as icons. It must be taken into account that by dynamic lighting enhancement of the look and feel of bridges plus Chennai city would be possible.
In places like New Delhi and Varanasi, many heritage structures have been lighted well and the civic body has taken an idea from these places. About 10 months ago, Hockey world cup was held in Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar in Odisha. It is brought out that the GCC studied the lighting projects on the bridges leading to this stadium. This was according to an official belonging to the bridges department.
He then spoke about how Ripon Buildings gets lit up during the important days. He hinted that by dynamic lighting of the structures like flyovers, subways etc, the public would get visual experience.
With this dynamic lighting project, GCC would be putting an end to the issues like poster menace, poor safety etc. It is important to note that when a place is kept neat and clean there won’t be any littering in that area.
The point is GCC is now trying to create an ecosystem so that behavioural change is achieved. It was mentioned by another official that LED would be used in this project and the lighting system would be programmed in such a way that it would be controlled from one place.
The superb piece of information is on important days the lights could be programmed to show the tricolour on the bridges and subways. Different ambience could be got for the same spot by changing the colours of this dynamic lighting.
