In the Chennai city, there are more than 1 lakh buildings that are constructed on objectionable poramboke lands. The important information is the revenue department would soon identify these buildings developed on the objectionable poramboke lands and these buildings would be demolished.

Point to be noted is those buildings that were built without clear patta documents but not on objectionable land might be favoured with regularization.

It is now revealed that the revenue department is yet to complete the task of compiling data on buildings constructed on the objectionable land. This was as per the officials. In a week or so the work of compiling data would be finished. The revenue department had identified more than 5000 buildings constructed on objectionable lands in each of the villages that were merged with the Chennai Corporation in the year 2011. This was also pointed out by some officials.

Pattas would be given by the government to those residents whose houses were not built on the objectionable lands. For this, the information must be shared by the residents and the revenue department officials have been persuading the residents. It must be noted that many residents refused to share information with the revenue department as they were worried about the possibility of demolition.
