Holiday declared for schools on the day before Deepavali!

Posted on: 10/Oct/2019 12:04:57 PM
A holiday has been declared for all schools on 26th October, the day before the Deepavali festival.

The state government department of school education had been sending the yearly working timetable/schedule for all government schools to the schools. However, as holidays had to be declared due to unforeseen reasons such as scorching summer or rains, the School Education Department has changed this system and started sending only the monthly timetable to accommodate the above unforeseen holidays and to change the timetable accordingly.

In this changed monthly timetable system, the timetable for the month of October, it has been indicated that 27th October (Saturday), the day before the Deepavali festival would be a school working day. This shocked the parents/teachers/students and the public who normally plan and celebrate Deepavali for 3 days!

As successive holidays had to be declared for the festivals such as Pongal, Ayudha Pooja, etc., the state government department of school education explained that 27th October was indicated as a working day.

In this situation, an announcement has been released that 27th October would be a holiday. Thus the change has been made declaring 27th October as a holiday on the occasions of Deepavali in place of the originally indicated as working day!
