For govt sanitary workers job in TN, many graduates line up now

Many youngsters in TN now are showing huge interest in government jobs. The number of applications received from the graduates for the job of the sanitary worker in the TN assembly secretariat is proof for this.

It must be taken into account that in 2018 the assembly secretariat received more than 5000 applications and 600 of those got rejected as many were found to be overqualified.

Information gathered is the candidates called for interviews now are so keen to get government jobs and there are just 15 vacancies. The interview is conducted by a deputy secretary of the assembly because speaker Mr. Dhanapal and his secretary Mr. Srinivasan have gone to Uganda for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference.

A graduate who has appeared for the interview for the sanitary worker post spoke about how in the last 3 years he had worked with 3 private companies and how he was asked to leave the jobs after few months or a year. He highlighted that there was no job security in private companies. He explained that the housekeeping job with the government would be a permanent one. The graduate shed light on how in the government job the salary would be Rs 15000 whereas in the private company he got less than Rs 10000.

It was later pointed out by a homemaker from Villivakkam that she had completed SSLC and her husband earnings were not enough to run the family of four. She highlighted the need for money to educate her kids. It must be noted that her whole family accompanied her to the interview. From the Dindigul district, a woman has come for the interview and she spoke about how she needs this housekeeping job desperately. She was ready to move to Chennai city from her village if she gets the job. She concluded that she would get the salary on time in the government job.

An official revealed that the applicants were mostly from SC, MBC, and BC communities and they were mostly from rural and semi urban places. He concluded that few candidates were from Chennai.
