In Chennai, bicycle sharing system to be available from morning 5 am itself

The latest news is Chennai Corporation has now changed the timings for the bicycle sharing system. Previously, the bicycle sharing system was available between 8 am and 8 pm is known. From now on, this bicycle sharing system would be available from 5 am to 10 pm. It is now said that those who are highly concerned about their fitness could make use of these bicycles for their morning activity.

It was in the month of February in 2019 the bicycle sharing system was launched by chief minister of TN, Mr. E. Palaniswamy under the smart city project. With a fleet of 250 bicycles, the project took off at 25 locations in places like Anna Nagar, Shenoy Nagar etc are known. In the recent times, the bicycle services were extended to 15 more locations on the OMR, EVR Salai and in the Pondy Bazaar.

It was mentioned by an official belonging to the Corporation of Chennai that work has been going on to add 100 more locations. The superb information is it has been a week since the timings for the bicycle sharing system has been revised and the response has been good till now.

It was revealed by an official that corporation received many requests to advance the bicycle sharing system timings so that many health conscious citizens would get benefited. It must be noted that most health conscious citizens wanted to utilize bicycles early in the morning. Point to be noted is the fitness enthusiasts crowd at the famous Marina Beach in the early morning and the new timings have been welcomed in this Marina Beach.

A bank employee spoke about how this bicycle sharing system is highly economical for the citizens and how a decent bicycle costs above Rs 3000. It was later pointed out by an IT professional that safety has been a problem as Chennai city was not bicycle friendly. He spoke about how few kilometres of dedicated cycle tracks that civic body experimented were unsuccessful. He concluded that such bicycle system might end weakly without the presence of dedicated bicycle tracks in Chennai.

Information is in T. Nagar the cycle sharing system is put up on the pedestrian plaza and this plaza is yet to be inaugurated. As a parking space for the 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers, wide footpath is used and the purpose is not solved.

It was pointed out by an official of Chennai Corporation that the extended timings for the bicycle sharing system are boon for many office goers. Important point is the bicycle services were closed by 8 pm in the evening and because of this many people were not able to utilize the bicycles for their last mile connectivity. Hence the timings were extended for 2 hours in the night also.

The official explained about how a person who gets down at Thirumangalam metro station could use the smart bike to commute to Anna Nagar 18th Main Road, 21st Main Road, Ambattur Estate and lock their bicycles at designated spots. Finally he spoke about how thisis was more economical than the autos.
