Heavy rains in Thiruvannamalai through the night! Max 187 mm rainfall!

It rained throughout the night till the early morning in Thiruvannamalai district. Maximum rainfall of 187 mm was recorded in Kalasapakkam.
Even after the conclusion of the summer season, it had continued to be quite hot for the last few days in Thiruvannamalai. The sultry weather put the public into hardship, especially during the night sessions!
The devotees gathered at temples praying for rains to the Gods and Goddesses offering ‘koozh’ (gruel) as the special ‘prasadam’ appeasing the Gods and Goddesses and they also performed ‘Varunayagam’.
In this situation, it suddenly started raining in Thiruvannamalai.in the evening on 16th evening - however, it stopped immediately. It started raining again at 7.00 PM. This rain persisted throughout the night. Roads were flooded with rainwater. It rained continuously on 17th morning as well! Children faced hardship in reaching their schools. Vehicle drivers also suffered. The rainwater collected in the low-lying areas and remained stagnant.
Rainwater surrounded the village of Japthikariyandhal located near Pudhupalayam. As there is no drainage canal facility, the collected rainwater remained stagnant.
In this regard, the local public observed, ‘We do not have the drain canal facility. So, during the rainy season, the rainwater remains stagnant. With passing days, mosquitoes are created in the stagnant water leading to the disease-spreading environment and situation. There is no road facility here as well! No action has been taken in this regard in spite of several appeals/complaints’!
There were heavy rains in the other areas of Kalasapakkam, Polur, Keezhpennathur, Vandhavasi, Cheyyaruin Thiruvannamalai district.
