Today (7th August) is the 1st Death anniversary for the former CM Kalaignar Karunanidhi!

Today (Friday, 7th August) being the 1st Death Anniversary of the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and the DMK party supremo ‘Kalaignar’ Karunanidhi, a silent procession was organised on behalf of DMK. DMK leader M K Stalin visited the Kalaignar memorial and paid his respects with flowers.
The former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and the DMK party supreme ‘Kalaignar’ Karunanidhi passed away due to old age and ill-health on 7th August last year. So, today being the 1st Death Anniversary, a silent procession was taken from Chennai Anna Salai to the ‘Kalaignar memorial’. The DMK party leader Stalin, other senior leaders and administrators of the DMK party and a host of party members and followers participated in this silent procession.
Further, a large crowd of the party members and admirers had gathered at his memorial for this occasion. Moving in waves, the large crowd went and paid their respects to the departed leader.
The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Bannerjee will inaugurate unveiling the statue of Kalaignar Karunanidhi today (Friday, 7th August).
Subsequently, there is a meeting organised at the Chennai Royappetta YMCA grounds when all senior leaders and party followers will be participating.
