After December 2020, wastes would not be sent to the dump yards in Chennai

The wastes that are collected in Chennai are being dumped at Kodungaiyur and Perungudi dump yard now is well known. The information is after the month of December in 2020 the wastes would not be sent to the dump yards located in the above said places in Chennai. This was as per an official belonging to the corporation of Chennai.

For onsite home composting, the corporation of Chennai has given permissions to 18 firms to start bio-degradable waste processing services. Re-cycling of non-biodegradable waste generated by the residents and traders would be carried out by as many as 12 firms as these firms have been given permission by the corporation. There would be decentralised waste processing facilities of the corporation in atleast 4000 locations in Chennai in the future. The superb information is waste processing would be done free of cost.

Important point to be noted is 30 private agencies would be charging an amount for this waste processing. The official later threw light on how all non-biodegradable would be regenerated an all bio-degradable waste would be processed on onsite.

Official concluded that before the onset of monsoon in the next year 2020, waste sent to the dump yard would be reduced by 90 percent.  In the 15 zones covering 426 sq km in the Chennai city, corporation of Chennai generates 5200 tonnes of solid wastes every day. For handling 650 tonnes of wastes every day, the civic body had developed waste processing facilities at parks, playgrounds, burial grounds and OSR lands is known.

Waste Winn Foundation is wet waste processing firm located in Triplicane in Chennai. Its founder Priyadarshini expressed her thoughts and spoke about how her firm has begun offering waste processing services for 13 apartment complexes. She revealed that the charges range from Rs 50,000 per month for an apartment complex of 1300 households to Rs 5000 for an apartment complex of 100 households. Finally, she mentioned about her the firm that would offer services for a time of 1 year.

At 28 locations in the Chennai city, micro-composting centres have been proposed and this has been in addition to the private agencies. Generation of bio CNG from waste at 3 locations would also be possible as the facilities would be developed. To process 10 tonnes of waste, a dry waste incinerator would be developed in Manali. It was mentioned by an official that another facility to process 50 tonnes of waste would be developed in the near future.
