This year, the cut-off marks in the medical colleges have risen by 100 marks in the state of Tamil Nadu. The aspiring medical students do not have any option now. It is revealed that these aspiring medical students have applied for the medical colleges in Russia, China etc.

The number of students who have applied for the medical colleges in the above mentioned countries has gone up now. One more advantage of studying medicine course in these foreign nations is low tuition fees.

In the year 2018, the cut-offs for OC category was 430 marks and now the cut-off marks is 524. This has been at the end of first round of counselling. In the same way, the cut-off marks for BC category in 2018 was 375 and it has risen to 474 in 2019. In the year 2018, the number of students who went abroad to study medicine was 60. In this 2019, this number rose to more than 180.The amazing piece of information is those students who got 450 marks in NEET are also opting for studying medicine in the foreign nations. This was as per Mr. Ravichandran, managing director, Study Abroad Educational Consultants.

It was later pointed out by Mr. Suresh Kumar, managing director, Truematics in Chennai, how a student of OC category has got 450 marks in 2019 NEET and how the student would be sent abroad for studying medicine. He also spoke about how the proposed NEXT test has increased the interest among candidates. Point is all the students studying in India and abroad would have to clear the exam so that they would be allowed to practise in India. He hinted that this exam would also serve as entrance test for PG courses.

Clearing NEET is compulsory even for those who are studying in the foreign nations and this is as per MCI. It was expected by many that the above rule of MCI would bring down the number of students opting to study medicine in Russia etc but reverse has happened now.

Mr. Ravichandran later spoke about how foreign universities would not insist on NEET but students without NEET qualification won’t be able to practise in India. He commented that the students must be careful while joining the foreign universities. The important information is as per the parents and students the low tuition fees for studying medicine in the foreign countries has been a major reason for many students opting to study there.

A student belonging to Old Washermanpet in Chennai spoke about how he got just 355 out of 720 in NEET and the cut-off marks for medical admission was 474 for BC category. He expressed his happiness about getting seat in six years MD (equivalent to MBBS in India) at Russia’s Volgograd State Medical University.
