Lack of facilities at the Madhavaram bus terminal is grabbing the attention

Proper connectivity along with facilities is very important for the passengers using the bus terminuses.  Those passengers using the Madhavarm Mofussil Bus Terminus or MMBT do not have the above mentioned and they face troubles now. It is known that this terminus was opened last year to ease the traffic congestion. Point to be noted is this terminus is being used by many people who travel to Andhra Pradesh and Tiruvallur.

For MTC fleets, a bay has been dedicated by the terminus. It must be taken into account that the terminus is being maintained by the CMDA or Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority.

Only on 2 routes, the buses are available and feeder services are operated on the routes 121 and 114 linking MMBT with CMBT at Koyambedu and Redhils. The rest of Chennai is not directly connected.

It was later pointed out by a resident belonging to Valasaravakkam that he had to take 2 MTC buses and then take share auto to reach the bus terminus. He added that it took him 90 minutes to reach the bus terminus from his residence. He expressed his unhappiness about the lack of direct services to reach the MMBT terminus. It must be noted that he wanted to go to Srikalahasthi in AP. People belonging to different parts of Chennai city depends on autos and cabs to reach MMBT.

Earlier, all the buses heading towards AP and Tiruvallur districts started from CMBT in Koyambedu. These buses were shifted from CMBT to MMBT just 10 months back is known. Information is APSRTC or Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation operates as many as 187 services and TNSTC or Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has got a fleet strength of 150 buses that travel to Tirupathi, Nellore and to the towns of Tiruvallur district.

It was mentioned by an official belonging to APSRTC that the demand for more MTC buses was not addressed and how inspite of 5 letters been written to the MTC there was no response yet.

The amazing piece of information is on an average 25,000 passengers visit MMBT in Madhavaram every day. It is revealed that the facilities at MMBT are not proportional to the footfall there. A commuter explained how passengers have to cross the busy highway to get food. As per a senior official belonging to CMDA it is now clear that allocation of shops that were delayed due to LS polls would be done in this week.
